Makeup Brushes 101

Hi Beauties! I hope your week is off to a good start. I know I've been MIA lately, but I just needed a break from blogging and social media. It was consuming a lot of my time, and my full time job is in the middle of busy season so I needed to cut back a bit. I think you almost have to take a break from time to time, so you feel refreshed and renewed.

Today I wanted to talk makeup brushes. It's amazing what a quality makeup brush can do to your makeup routine.

There are some great quality makeup brushes out in the market that are affordable as well. I will be sharing with you some of my favorite makeup brushes that I use on a daily basis.

Here we go!

My Top Foundation Brushes:

This is one of my favorite foundation brushes and it's only $9.99! The technique I use involving this brush is stippling the foundation on to the skin with the brush, and then using a beauty blender to blend everything out. This gives the skin that airbrushed look. The bristles on this brush are so soft! They are also hand-cut, synthetic, and 100% cruelty-free.

I really love this brush to buff on my foundation and it's only $12.95. The technique I use with this brush is a little different than the real techniques brush. I use a dabbing/stippling motion to dab on the foundation, and then I follow up using circular motions to buff the foundation into the skin. The bristles on this brush are so soft, and I like how tightly packed they are. The bristles are also synthetic as well.

My Top Contouring/Blush Brushes:

I use this brush for contouring. At only $7.99, this brush delivers great quality for the price! It's so soft and really blends everything flawlessly. I like the shape of this brush as well. The shape has the perfect amount of width and depth to blend out powdered products. You can even use this brush for blush. I highly recommend this brush, especially for the price and quality.

This brush can also be used for both blush and contouring. I really like these types of brushes that are angled because they help to carve out the cheekbones, and more definiton to the face. This brush is made with goat hair and is also $7.99.

My Top Eyeshadow Brushes:

This crease brush is so incredibly soft, I can't get enough of it! I love using this to blend eyeshadows into the crease. Take the brush and dab it into a neutral eyeshadow shade and blend back in forth into the crease using sweeping circular motions. Take the same brush and dab it into a darker shade and use the same motions to blend into the crease.

This brush is made with synthetic hair and is priced at $2.82. You seriously can't beat that price!

Marlena from Makeup Geek created an amazing company that offers some quality products at affordable prices. I really want to purchase more of her products because they are too good to pass up. This pencil brush is the perfect makeup brush to blend out eyeshadow or even eyeliner along the lashline. You can even use it to darken the outer V for a more dramatic look. The bristles are synthetic and cruelty free, and the cost of this brush is $8.50.

This brush is great for packing on eyeshadow onto the eyelid. I suggest to use small patting motions to pack on the eyeshadow. This brush is also made of synthetic hair, and the cost is $4.99.

There are other makeup brushes I use too, but these are the main brushes I reach for every time I apply my makeup. I love how affordable they are, and the quality they provide. What are some of your favorite makeup brushes? Do you have a favorite brand you always reach for? Comment below and let me know! Have a great week everyone!
